Repurposed for a purpose ✨

"I wonder what my purpose is?", we often ask ourselves.

"What is your purpose?", we often ask each other.

"I'm sure there's a purpose for all of us", we reassure ourselves AND each other.

We might not like to admit it, but this is what we are thinking about half the time! Either conciously or subconsciously. I can say with certainty that I am one of those persons constantly questioning this. I used to be somewhat of a pessimist, but in recent years I have been reassured that there must be a reason for everything, even our birth!

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” — Jeremiah‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Before I moved to Japan, I was legit lost. I was simply going through the motions; with no real reason for doing anything. Funny enough, this led me to the teaching profession. I taught science for a little over 2 years in Jamaica; at two prominent high schools. Anyone who knows me well enough can attest to the fact that initially I had noooo plans of becoming a teacher. Simply because I come from a family of teachers and was not interested in joining the list. Look at me now... teaching English in Japan! I say this alllll the time: God sent me to Japan. I am confident that there's a purpose for me being in Japan. The transition was so seamless. It was as though someone was taking care of everything in advance. Who else, but God?! I’m living proof that the plans you have for yourself mean nothing when God has other plans for you. If “man a plan an God a wipe” was a person —> Me dat right thruuu!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

By the way, your purpose doesn’t have to be grande for it to be impactful. Just continue to seek God for His guidance and it will definitely be revealed. Honestly, the closer you get to God, the more clarity you have regarding issues of purpose. Believe me! I’m definitely not perfect, but I make a conscious effort to work on my relationship with God daily. He made us for a purpose. And in His name, it will be fulfilled!!

Let’s declare this throughout the year: #Purpose2021

  2. I can relate to this. Purpose sometimes seems like a fleeting dream, though once you connect with a power that's greater than yourself what was once a dream feels like an unmovable force gearing up to move mountains.

  3. I too I'm feeling a bit lost. I'm coming Japan soon to teach English also. Looking back to when I was younger, teaching was not a profession I would have ever considered especially not to teach English as I'm a maths lover. But I believe God is leading me to Japan for something greater than I can ever imagine. And even though I'm also going there to repay my debts, more than that I hope to find myself, my purpose, I hope to be the best of myself.

P.S. just found your blog and I'm loving it
