Two Different Worlds 🇯🇲🇯🇵

 OMG! First blog!

This is legitimitely the most common topic I have discussed in recent times. What better way to further discuss it, than writing about it here?!

So, here goes!

In March 2020, I uprooted my whole life and moved to Japan! Why?? Whyy Rochhh?? Well, in short I did it because I could lol. But honestly, I was am a single woman, with no children, and a job that I really wasn’t that attached to. I had nothing to lose, and so much experience to gain! Quite frankly, I’m sure this is where God wanted me to be. The transition was almost seamless and that’s not something that usually happens in my life. If you know, you know! So that was proof in itself.

Immediately, I realized that Jamaica and Japan are two completely different worlds. Firstly, Japan is sooooo peaceful. In every sense of the word. The peace, serenity and freedom I have felt since moving to Japan is unfathomable!! No noise, no chaos, I can walk the streets at 3 am with no fear. P E A C E. I had culture shock because I was so used to watching my back or simply being weary of people who walk by my  things laying on a random table in Starbucks. In Japan, I can legit leave my belongings, go the bathroom and not worry about whether they will be stolen. That’s crazyyyyy! But yeah, that was enough for me to be like, “Yeah man, this make sense!”

I loooove me some Jamaica but it’s way too annoying. Yes, annoying. Especially right now, during the pandemic. The news alone can be so daunting. I pray for my family and friends daily, just for them to be safe. Why are we so violent? Why are we such thieves? Why can’t we leave people’s things alone? Why are we so indisciplined? I’m over it. Honestly.

I also found contrast in the general order of things in Japan. Rules are followed, for the most part. Jamaica? Jamaica would neverrr! At first, the myriad of rules were a little overwhelming but I soon realized that it was the main reason for my newfound peace. They had their own way of doing things - Duh! It’s a different culture. Yeah yeah yeah! The point is that there were rules and they followed them. Love to see it!

At the end of the day, I can’t see myself going back to Jamaica to live, neither can I see myself living in Japan for 50 years! Let’s see what the future holds...

Maybe a whole new world?

Wherever it is, I’m ready!
